Birds, birds and more birds!!

Well, I have decided to give Jenni a break from the blog and post myself. Things are going well here. We are getting ready for the new baby and enjoying Auburn's 4-0 start to the season. For all those interested they will be playing South Carolina Thursday night on ESPN. War Eagle!!

Last Sunday we took Will out to Star Lake here in Hoover. Will needed out of the house which meant that Mom and Dad needed out of the house as well. "Mimi" and "Bips" met us out there. Will liked feeding the geese and ducks but LOVED chasing them. As funny as it was we couldn't let him terrorize the wildlife. He was very disappointed. There was also a family, babies and all, of ducks. He couldn't get enough of them. He kept yelling "bebes, bebes". It was very amusing.

Today, Jenni and I were in the living room while Will was napping when we heard this huge thud on the kitchen window. Having heard the noise before, we both knew what it was. Sadly enough, the bird that hit the window, was now lifeless on the ground. We waited to see if it would come around. Maybe it was just stunned. After about ten minutes we had come to the conclusion that it was, in fact, dead. As I was digging the hole for the bird, Jenni yelled to me off the deck that I better dig another hole. Yep, another bird hit the window. However, upon closer review, we discovered that the bird was still alive. So, I scooped it up and put it in a shoe box. The bird seemed to improve after a few minutes. The Alabama Wildlife Center here in Birmingham has an animal rehabilitation center. We called them and they told us to bring the bird in if it doesn't improve over the next hour. An hour later we were on our way to the center. In addition to trying to help the bird we thought this would be a great adventure for Will. By this time, he had woken up from his nap and was quite enthralled with the "duck". The people at the center seemed happy to take the bird under their wing.;) Unfortunately, they didn't sound very optimistic. They said they would keep us posted on his progress. Say a little prayer for it. We will let you all know how he/she does.

I don't know what pictures we have. I will shuffle through and see if I can find some good ones.

This is the bird I hoped we saved. The girl at the animal rehabilitation center said it is a Mourning Dove.

War Eagle!

We're heading to the lake/Auburn for the big Auburn/LSU game! Wish us luck and watch CBS tomorrow at 2:30. Hopefully, we'll be beating up on the Cajun Tigers! War Eagle!!!!!

The Beach and random boring stuff...

We just got back from a WONDERFUL trip to the beach! It was Will's first time to a "real" beach (the panhandle of FL) :) We stayed in a really nice condo that had two pools and a big Mushroom Fountain. Will absolutely loved playing in the mushroom fountain!!! I wasn't sure how he was going to like the sand on the beach, but it didn't seem to bother him a bit. Before we left, I went to our local drugstore to stock up on sunscreen and came across this little plastic backpack of sand toys that was attached a little red cart. All their summer toys were 50 percent off, and I thought it was adorable, so I bought it for next to nothing! It turned out to be the best purchase I've ever made. Will loved dragging all his toys behind him to the pool/beach everyday, so not only did we not have to carry him, but we didn't have to carry all his toys. It was so cute to watch him drag all his toys behind him! I think every single person we saw asked me where I got it. Will didn't mind getting into the ocean as long as someone was holding him, but he wasn't wild about standing down where the waves were hitting the beach by himself. We were really proud of him by the end of the trip because he slept really well the whole time and was always on his best behavior even when we went out to dinner past his usual bedtime. We couldn't have asked for better behavior out of him! I think Will's favorite part of the trip was waking up every morning and yelling, "Mimi", "Bips", "Buff" until he got everyone up out of bed. He loved having so many people wake up and be happy to see him. I'm not sure they loved their early morning wake-up call every morning, but no one complained too much. Also, while we were there, Auburn killed Washington State in our first game of the year. It's looking like it's going to be another great football season! So, all in all, it was a great trip!!

Yesterday afternoon Will had quite the meltdown when he woke up from his afternoon nap. It was REALLY unusual for him. It was 4:20 and we have to go out of town this weekend for a wedding. Any of you that remember our trip to Dallas with a child with a double ear infection will know what was going through my mind...I HAVE to get to the doctor's office before they close! This cannot happen again. So, I rushed him into the car and sped off to the Pediatrician. Walked in the door at 4:50 (they close at 5). I kept thinking to myself, I better be right about this. Right about the time we walked in the door, Will turned into the happiest, wildest child on the block because the Motrin kicked in. I felt really stupid marching in there right before they closed and presenting this really happy child as so sick that we definitely need to be seen in the next 10 minutes, but I was right. He has an ear infection in his right ear. I have NEVER been so glad to feel stupid for a few minutes! Another trip out of town for a weekend wedding with a sick child would have been a nightmare!

Stephen's been in Canada since Tuesday and will be back late tonight. We'll be picking Grandma up from the airport this afternoon so that she and Mom can drive to Memphis for a family wedding. Will is really excited to see her! That's all that's going on around here. Hope you all are having a great week.
