I'm so behind on the blog. Not sure when I'm going to have the time to catch up. For now, I had a "blog-worthy" moment with Will today. He has his 6 year old check up tomorrow morning. Some of you might know how much Will does not like check ups. Is it the shots, you wonder? No. It's the scale. He, since he was 3 years old, refuses to stand on the scale! Never saw that one coming when I marched him in for the 3 year old check up. The nurses had no idea what to do, I had no idea what to do. Next up after our failure to stand on the scale, urinating in a cup. Not gonna happen. Flashback to me in a nasty bathroom at the dr.'s office, begging my still hysterical 3 year old to pee in the cup that I am holding while my one year old little girl is crawling around on the nasty floor of the bathroom. Spent what seemed like an eternity calming him down so that they could come in and prick his finger and give him shots. Oh, can you imagine what it was like when they pricked his finger and gave him the shots? No, you cannot. It was the most peaceful few moments of the whole visit. That's right. Hysteria over standing on the scale and peeing in a cup, but we're all good with shots! It was reeediculous! 4 year old check up rolls around. Surely, we won't have that problem again. Hah! Screaming fit. 5 year old check up rolls around. Surely, not this time, we thought. Wrong again. Total hysterical meltdown. 5 Shots, no problem. Scales and urinating in cups, absolutely not. So, the dreaded 6 year old check up is here. Our appointment is at 8 AM. Luke is also having his 4 month old check up so he will be getting 4 shots. Oh yes, and for a little more excitement, Sarah will be joining us. I have been dreading this appointment for quite a while.
Now, for the "blog-worthy" part.
I decided to try to prepare Will for the appointment this afternoon. In the past, we've let it be a surprise so as not to have to listen to him whine about/dread it for days. I reminded him of all the things they were going to ask him to do. I then asked him what he might want for good behavior. Yes, I fully plan to bribe the child for decent behavior. I'm going to have my hands full. He thought for a second and said, "Oh yeah, I know, I want an Ipod" RIIIIIGHHHT. Try again. "Ugh, OKAAY. Then I want a tablet so I can play Angry Birds (it's a game)" Oh, sure let me get right on that! Try again. "Okay, well then what I really want is a box of Valentine Paper Airplanes that I can keep and not give to my friends" You got it!
Only Will.
Wish me luck tomorrow, people. It could get ugly.
