Head's up
In order to make sure that there are not any creepos out there reading our blog, we are going to go private. We, of course, still want our friends and family and maybe even a few random stalkers :) to be in the loop, but aren't crazy about completely random people knowing what is going on with us. VACATION!!!
Last week, my parents, Stephen, the kids and I loaded up and headed down to Panama City for a few days in the sand and sun...well, mostly in the sand...not so much sun. Anyone who knows me, knows that I absolutely love going to the beach, and really look forward to it every year! We stayed in a great condo, had pretty good weather, the beach pretty much all to ourselves, and the kids had a BLAST! Even though we had full sun the first day, it never really got hot on the beach as there was a nice breeze. Despite the few hours of rain we got, we could not have asked for a better trip!
Our days on the beach were action packed! Will finally got a chance to fly the kite that has been riding around in our van for about 6 months...he always wants to fly it, but never has enough wind. There were hardly any people on the beach, as most schools have already gone back...it was nice! We had a couple days of clouds and rain, but it always cleared up enough for us to spend at least a couple hours out on the beach. Speaking of the beach, the kids LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the beach! Stephen and I were able to set up our beach chairs and relax while they played and played in the sand by themselves. It was GREAT! We also spent quite a bit of time as a family out in the ocean. We had really great waves the whole time we were there! The ocean definitely showed Stephen and I our age after getting repeatedly beaten by the crashing waves while holding onto the kids. They both loved it though. Will did pretty well despite DESPISING getting water in his eyes (bath water, pool water, ocean water) I got a great shot of him running up to the towel with one eye shut and the other squinted...he made this run about a billion times while we were there. Sarah on the other hand wanted as much water to hit her in the face as possible. The bigger the wave, the louder she squealed with delight. It was hilarious. She would get completely bowled over by a wave and come up laughing. The condo had 2 large pools with hardly anyone using them, but we actually only spent a grand total of about 10 minutes in them. I was glad b/c I'd much rather be at the beach.
We had lots of good meals while we were there. We discovered that Sarah loves crab claws and lobster stuffed mahi mahi...oh yeah, and pretty much anything else that "Bips" had on his plate. Will, on the other hand, was happy to stick with pizza, chicken, spaghetti, etc. After dinner one night, we wandered across the street from our condo to a little putt-putt type amusement park where they had toddler sized amusement rides and go carts. Stephen took Will on his first go cart ride which he loved. He had a death grip on his steering will and quite the tense face throughout the ride, but seemed to love it and wanted to do it again. He also rode some airplanes that flew around in a circle, a mini train, spinning cups, and a mini ferris wheel. Sarah rode the train with him and loved it during the first lap, but as the ride continued she would smile and wave when she rode by me but then as the train drove away from where I was standing she would make the biggest monkey face. This continued for a couple laps and got progressively worse so the guy who was working stopped it and she was more than happy to climb off. She did ride on the swings that spin around and around and LOVED that! It was a fun night for all of us.
