Luke celebrated his 10 month birthday at the beach. Not bad. He started the day off in a beach chair with a cold one in hand. Totally the way I would like to start my birthday.
This month’s accomplishments
- standing up and cruising around furniture. nothing’s safe.
- letting go and standing un-assisted
- saying the words, “Dack” (Jack) and “up” (in case Mommy ignores the arms straight up in the air and puppy dog eyes)
- cut two more teeth on the top with two on the bottom expected any day.
- this week’s home school lesson has been all about gravity…after lots of practice, Luke definitely has it down (no pun intended) ;) He also practices his vocabulary words by saying “uh-oh” with each fallen object.
Luke is still very sweet, very social, and very impish. His favorite things to do are chew on power cords, empty every cabinet he can open, dump the animals’ water all over the floor every opportunity he gets, and play in the toilet water when the bathroom doors are left open. Thankfully, I have two older children who are (most of the time) more than willing to help me police the little guy.
Luke still likes to growl. He growls at us, he growls at the animals, and he still growls for food. It’s pretty funny. I’m pretty sure he thinks he’s a rhinoceros. He leads with his head all the time. Sometimes it’s to tackle one of us and sometimes it’s to try to open one of the doors we’ve shut to keep him out. He’s very persistent and has quite the temper when he doesn’t get what he wants.
Luke is not the sleeper that Will and Sarah were. Especially lately since he’s been hardcore teething, he is waking usually once or twice a night. (between 7 and 7). ugh! It sure does make me really appreciate the nights that he doesn’t wake up, though! Some days he’s a great napper, others he boycotts naps with all he’s got only to catch cat naps in the car. He’s just not a consistent sleeper. It usually works out okay, though, because honestly, he couldn’t be the kind of sleeper that Will and Sarah were because of our schedule these days. We have to be in and out of the car at different times and sleeping the day a way just wouldn’t work.
Luke loves to jabber jaw all the time. He flirts with everyone and genuinely enjoys interacting with people.
We love our little blonde headed bulldozer a lot!
